Monarch introduces complimentary infant baggage allowance

Wednesday 21 Jan 2009 9:24am

British airline Monarch has announced a new measure intended to make flying easier for families travelling with young children. The airline has introduced a complimentary hold baggage allowance of 10kgs for infants above and beyond the usual luggage allowance for its customers. From today, passengers booking travel for infants will receive their standard allowance of 20kgs of hold baggage and 10kgs of hand baggage per person as well as 10kg hold baggage allowance for each infant. This extra baggage provision will run alongside Monarch's current carriage of pushchairs, prams and car seats, free of charge. Liz Savage, managing director of Monarch's scheduled service division, commented, 'This will be welcome news for families travelling with young children who often struggle to carry all the essential holiday items for themselves and their infant within their standard baggage allowance. 'As an airline flying to popular holiday destinations in Spain, Portugal and Cyprus we carry many young families on their annual holidays and feel it is important to make their travel experience as seamless as possible. Monarch is committed to providing great customer care and service to all of its passengers and parents can now have peace of mind when travelling that they do not need to sacrifice other items to make way for necessities needed for their infants on holiday.
