Singapore Airlines to celebrate millionth A380 passenger

Monday 02 Feb 2009 8:31am

Singapore Airlines will carry its one millionth Airbus A380 passenger in the next few weeks. The airline was the first to use the new A380 aircraft, on flights between Singapore and Sydney from October 2007. It has announced that it expects to carry its millionth customer sometime in February. A ride in a chauffeur-driven limousine, a meal at a top restaurant and a three-night stay at a luxury hotel will be among the prizes awarded to the lucky passenger to celebrate the occasion. Singapore Airlines' vice-president of marketing, Huang Cheng Eng, said that the forthcoming milestone is a 'strong indication' of the popularity of the new A380 services with customers. The airline currently has six A380 planes in service, flying from Singapore to London's Heathrow Airport, Sydney and Tokyo. The giant A380 aircraft have now flown for more than 20,000 hours on over 2,000 commercial flights since their launch.
