EasyJets new flights from Manchester fast tracked

Sunday 26 Apr 2009 7:12am

Low-cost airline easyJet has announced that its expansion plans for its services from Manchester Airport are being brought forward three months from August to May 21. Under the fast-tracked initiative, easyJet will base an additional aeroplane at Manchester Airport to allow it to run flights with increased frequency to popular summer destinations including Malaga, Tenerife, Alicante, Malta and Paphos. A set of new flight routes to Corfu and Athens in Greece, Dalaman in Turkey and Bastia on the French island of Corsica will also be launched earlier than originally planned. EasyJet's UK commercial manager, Carly Brear, claimed that the expansion will mean that more travellers from the North West will be able to enjoy the 'care and convenience' of flying from their local airport. Ms Brear added: 'This is great news for the north-west - not only does our additional aircraft mean more jobs and more visitors to the region, but it means that customers in the north-west can now take advantage of even more of easyJet's famously low fares to the summer hotspots across Europe. ' In other news, easyJet has also announced that it will operate two additional weekly flights from Glasgow Airport to Palma de Majorca between May 5 and June 23.
