New flights to Vienna from Gatwick

Sunday 17 May 2009 8:31am

Budget airline easyJet has announced plans to increase its European flight network later this year with new flights from London Gatwick to Vienna, Austria. The new service will get underway on April 2nd and will compliment the success of easyJet's current offering of flights to Vienna from Luton Airport. Vienna's increasing popularity has been cited as the main reason behind the Gatwick route. The Austrian capital is famous for its associations with classical music and ballroom dancing and also boasts vibrant nightlife and inland beaches that are proving popular with younger travellers. EasyJet's UK general manager, Paul Simmons, said: 'Vienna has always been known for its historical past, but the city is now enjoying a real renaissance. 'We are seeing lots more tourists wanting to visit Vienna. Although people still want to see its palaces, art galleries and museums, they now want to experience the romance of dances like the waltz where they originated, in some of the grandest ballrooms in the world. ' In other news, easyJet also recently announced that it will bring its expansion plans at Manchester Airport forward to May 21st, when new flights to Athens, Corfu, Bastia and Dalaman will be launched.
