Icelandair promotes sporting events

Monday 25 May 2009 7:12am

Icelandair has invited sports fans to visit Iceland over the next few months to watch or take part in a number of popular running events. The Icelandic running season commences on 23 June with the Midnight Run, which is open to all abilities on 3km, 5km and 10km courses. The run is followed by the opportunity to relax in the Laugardalslaug thermal pools. There's also the gruelling Laugavegur Ultra Marathon on 18 July, which is held on a well-known hiking route that passes through the Landmannalaugur and Thorsmork scenic areas. The Reykjavik Marathon takes place on 22 August and is the conclusion with the city-wide celebration of Culture Night, an event featuring live music, street entertainment and fireworks. In other news, Icelandair recently urged travellers to visit Reykjavik to enjoy wildlife tours during Iceland's whale-watching season.
