Gatwick Airport allows more than one bag through security

Friday 28 Mar 2008 8:10am

From 31st March, passengers travelling through Gatwick Airport will be able to carry more than one item of luggage through security. The move comes after the UK government relaxed the luggage limit of one bag that had been put into place to stop terrorism. This relaxation happened on 7th January this year, but many airlines and indeed airlines have yet to relax their own rules. Gatwick said that it needed time to install new x-ray equipment in search areas - which has now been completed. Passengers travelling from Gatwick are advised to double-check with their airline as to whether the airline has relaxed its rules on hand luggage as some airlines have chosen to continue to enforce the one-bag rule. Gatwick Airport saw more than 2. 3 million passengers use the airport in February - an increase of almost 3. 5% compared to the same time last year.
