Gatwick Airport Will See Great Improvements from Large Infusion of Cash

Thursday 29 Jul 2010 8:20pm

The American proprietors of Gatwick Airport, Global Infrastructure Partners, introduced their intention to invest one billion pounds into a development plan over the next 24 months. Some of the enhancements to the airport will be an innovative inter-terminal shuttle that becomes operable in July, two months before it was scheduled to open. In addition, the North Terminal's expansion will also become operable in July. The baggage system, departure lobby, entrance forecourts, and immigration hall are all targeted for significant enhancements within the next 24 months. Global Infrastructure Partners indicate that their reason for investing this money is to strengthen the airport's position as a superior flight facility with excellent customer service for both passengers and airline companies. In all the world, Gatwick services more flights than any other facility with a single runway. It is 2nd in size in the United Kingdom. There are flights from Gatwick to over 200 places in 90 countries, which is a larger number of flights than any other facility in the United Kingdom. About 33 million fliers take flights to and from this airport on an annual basis.
