Virgin Heathrow to Hong Kong gets additional daily flight

Sunday 15 Jun 2008 9:45am

For those passengers travelling long-haul towards Australia or Asia, Virgin airline's addition of a second flight each day from London Heathrow to Hong Kong will give them more flexibility about when during the day to travel. The additional flight each day also gives passengers more options when having to make connecting flights to onward destinations. Hong Kong and Singapore are also traditionally popular stop-off points for a short break for people travelling to Australia from Europe. The all-year long warm climate, as well as both cities having an abundance of things to do and see and both being cheap planes makes it an attractive option to having to spend 24+ hours continiously on a plane. The new flight according to an announcement from Virgin said that the new flight will start on 28th October and from then until 3rd December will fly three times a week. From 4th December the additional flight will operate daily. The new departure time from London will be 16:15 local time, arriving in Hong Kong at 14:15 local time. Steve Ridgway, CEO of the airline said [quote] 'East is the new west and this second daily service will offer our passengers even more opportunities via Hong Kong, which is the third busiest long-haul route out of Heathrow after New York's JFK and Dubai'.
