Friday 30 Jan 2009 10:02am

Australia's largest airline, Qantas, expanded its Airbus A380 services last week with an inaugural flight on the airline's Sydney to London route. Qantas will initially offer three A380 services a week between Sydney and Heathrow Airport via Singapore, with departures from Sydney on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays and returns on the following days. These flights will form part of the 28 weekly return services that Qantas currently operates between Australia and the UK. Qantas' executive general manager, John Borghetti, said that the A380 has generated 'extremely positive' reviews from customers since its launched on a flight from Melbourne to Los Angeles last year. Mr Borghetti added: 'It has delivered on our vision, realised by Qantas creative director Marc Newson, of offering customers a new, stylish long-haul travel experience, more space and more comfort. 'It has also met our expectations in terms of aircraft performance. ' The Qantas A380 has a capacity of 450 seats, including 32 in premium economy and 72 in business class.
