Continental increases inflight entertainment selection

Sunday 18 Jan 2009 7:13am

US airline Continental Airlines has introduced a new Panasonic in-flight entertainment system on its Boeing 757-200 aircraft for economy class passengers. The system includes individual seat-back screens for every customer, a selection of 25 movies, 25 television shows and 50 CDs, and an interactive foreign language computer tutorial programme. Continental has also installed power ports throughout the economy cabin, providing electricity for mobile phones, digital music players, laptops and other portable devices. All of Continental's 41 Boeing 757s will be equipped with the new entertainment system, marking an upgrade for the aircraft. The integrated in-flight entertainment system was previously only offered in the business class cabin. The upgraded aircraft chiefly operate on Continental's transatlantic flights to and from its Newark Liberty International Airport. Continental's director of product marketing Eric Kleiman said: 'Now all our customers travelling on Boeing 757-200s can choose from a wide variety of in-flight entertainment options, whenever they want. 'They can also work or play on their laptops without worrying about their battery running out during the flight. ' Continental expect to complete the business and economy class cabins of its Boeing 777 fleet installation by May 2009.
