Tuesday 03 Feb 2009 7:31am

British airline Monarch has announced two new routes from the UK to the popular Greek coastal resort of Volos. Monarch's new flights will depart from Manchester Airport and Gatwick Airport, and will operate on a seasonal basis between May 15th and October 9th. The services will fly via the Greek island of Skiathos. Fares to Volos will start from £239 return, including all taxes and charges. Monarch recently announced that it had served 3. 9 million passengers in 2008, a substantial increase of 6. 5 per cent on like for like figures for 2007, when the airline served 3. 7 million passengers. Passenger growth has been attributed to the addition of a number of new routes during the year. These new routes include services from Gatwick Airport to Cyprus and Menorca. In addition, Monarch confirmed that it was the most punctual operator from Manchester Airport last month, recording 93 per cent of its flights as departing on time - departing within fifteen minutes of the scheduled departure slot.
