Dubai has been described as 'a pace-setting destination like no other' by the Dubai department of tourism and commerce marketing (DTCM). The director of the DTCM in the UK, Ian Scott, was speaking after the United Arab Emirates tourism hotspot scooped the award for the best destination in the Middle East and Africa at the Irish Travel Trade News Awards. Mr Scott said that the DTCM was thrilled that Dubai picked up the accolade, which he said was indicative of the destination's facilities for both leisure and business travellers. Mr Scott added: 'Dubai is a pace-setting destination like no other, unique in its appeal to visitors seeking the ultimate experience. 'And with superior quality at the heart of its promise, it is little wonder that Dubai has established itself on the world stage. ' According to Mr Scott, one of the major factors in Dubai's success is its diversity, with accommodation options ranging from the iconic luxury Burj Al Arab and Atlantis hotels, to more affordable options. The fact that Dubai also offers entertainment to suit all tastes, with shopping malls and sports centres was also cited as a factor in the country's popularity.
