Bomb tests to start to UK airports

Monday 07 May 2007 12:11pm

In the continuing effort to secure the skys, Manchester Airport starts random tests on liquids to ensure they are not explosive. Since November 2006, passengers are restricted to carrying liquids in containers less than 100ml in size. This came after an alleged plan to blow up flights going from UK to US in August 2006. The new random liquid tests will be done by security officers who will carry special kits allowing them to make quick and random test on passenger's hand luggage if they feel appropriate. Mike Fazackerley, head of security at Manchester airport said that security is very important and that comes first. It may increase passenger queuing times at airports, but people chosen for the random tests will be taken to one side and they would work to reduce any inconvenience. Flying Abroad comments: Anyone travelling through an airport will see that security is tight, and to minimise your inconvenience please read our articles on Airport Security. Keep any liquids in a sealable clear plastic bag - simply doing this will greatly help for you to have an smooth trip through the airport.
