Sunday 08 Mar 2009 10:13am

President of Virgin Atlantic, Sir Richard Branson, completed an eight-day round the world journey to mark the launch of V Australia, the newest Virgin airline. Sir Richard began his trip by flying from London to Hong Kong, moving on to Sydney and Los Angeles before returning to London. The famous Virgin entrepreneur will address local business representatives en route to discuss the global effects of the economic downturn. V Australia was launched last Friday (February 27th), and will initially fly from Sydney to Los Angeles, with plans to expand operations to include routes from Brisbane and Melbourne. Sir Richard commented: 'The launch of V Australia joins up Sydney and LA, destinations currently served by Virgin Atlantic from London and it means consumers can travel on Virgin globally for the first time. It's a unique moment in Virgin's history. ' Virgin Atlantic operates flights to long-haul destinations including Cape Town, San Francisco and Tokyo from its central base at London's Heathrow Airport.
