Advance notice of M1 closure affecting London Luton Airport

Anyone travelling downt he M1 past Luton in the last year will have noticed the extensive roadworks between M1 junction 10 and the M25 motorway. The work being carried out (and to be finished in 2008) is the widening of the motorway to include more lanes. Starting mid-june for two weekends, the M1 will close in both directions between junction 8 and junction 9 for the following times: - 2100hrs on Saturday 16th June to 0900hrs on Sunday 17th June 2007 - 2100hrs on Saturday 23rd June to 0900hrs on Sunday 24th June 2007 Diversions will be in place including: - Southbound M1 traffic will be diverted from Junction 9 through the A5183, B487 and A414 to rejoin the M1 at Junction 8. - Northbound M1 traffic will be diverted from Junction 8 along the A414, B487 and A5183 to rejoin the M1 at Junction 9. Furthermore, the following are also scheduled to take place: There will also be work done on Airport Way between Monday 11th June to Sunday 1st July resulting in contraflow and narrow lanes. On the following dates, Airport Way will be closed in both directions: - 1830 Saturday 7th July - 0630 Sunday 8th July - 1830 Saturday 14th July - 0630 Sunday 15th July - 1830 Saturday 21st July - 0630 Sunday 22nd July Please allow more time to get to Luton Airport during these times.
