Bristol Airport launches system to avoid security queues

Tuesday 29 Jul 2008 9:40am

I think all passengers despise queuing at security for airports and I think its extremely rare to not to have any wait which the time-consuming, albeit essential, security screening takes place for each passenger. Bristol Airport has implemented a 'fly thru' system which will allow passengers to avoid the queue and get through security quicker. Nothing in life is free and each 'fly thru' ticket costs £5 and can be purchased at the airline, or in advance through online bookings. The system was introduced after 60% of business passengers stated they would pay a small price to avoid the queues and the new scheme is expected to be popular with economy passengers too. Alison Roberts, general manager of terminal operations at Bristol Airport, said: 'Our customers told us that they wanted more time to relax in the departure lounge and less time spent in queues. We've listened and introduced improvements which have significantly reduced queues to the security search area. However, some passengers, particularly those travelling regularly on business, want to guarantee an even quicker journey through the airport, and that's why we have introduced the fly thru option'. Bristol Airport is served by easyJet as well as several other airlines - and passengers can fly to numerous European destinations as well as direct to New York from this south-west England airport.
