Tuesday 06 Jan 2009 7:44am

Irish regional airline Aer Arann has announced a new flight route from the Republic of Ireland to one of England's most popular holiday resorts. The airline will begin operating the Blackpool Airport and Dublin from January 5th. Paul Schutz, Aer Arran's chief executive officer designate, said: 'The strength of Aer Arann is our ability, as people become more discerning about how they spend their money on air travel, to provide easy and direct access to regional airports with a desirable high-quality product at affordable prices. 'We said when we were announcing our winter schedule that we will be continuing to develop new routes wherever we see an opportunity to strengthen our position as a leading regional carrier. ' Airfares for the new Ireland to Blackpool service will start from €39. 99 (£31) one way, including taxes and charges. News of the new route follows Aer Arran's recent launch of a new route between London City Airport and the Isle of Man.
