Ryanair to offer cheap flights to USA

Travellers are likely to see more about RyanAtlantic over the coming months - with Ryanair's starting in earnest its transatlantic service. Michael O'Leary, CEO of Ryanair said that hes planning to offer flights from Europe to America from just $12 US Dollars. Ryanair's initial plans are to serve six american destinations and the airline is in the process of acquiring the necessary planes it needs. The airline has a large number of outstanding planes on order with both Boeing and Airbus. The airline is also expected to follow its existing European business model of not using major airport in the US and using smaller airports outside the major cities. These are often considerably cheaper - helping to keep costs down for passengers. The "$12" flight to America does raise several points to ponder, including the fact that it would probably cost you more to get to the airport that it would to fly across the Atlantic. However, as Ryanair are a master at ensuring that any additional extras beyond the actual flight - eg. checking in, carrying luggage - are charged for, the actual cost for a flight from Europe to America is likely to be several times more - probably closer to $125 US Dollars (about
