On 7th February, easyJet officially opened their 19th base at Paris' Charles-de-Gaulle Airport. The new base is part of a four-year, Euro 600 million investment to keep easyJet as the second biggest airline in France with a current 6% of market share. National airline, Air France controls over 55% of the market share. Initially, three Airbus A319 aircraft will be based at the airport - creating over 120 jobs. The new base is the second in Paris - allowing easyJet to offer 28 routes from Paris to destinations within France, Europe and North Africa. easyJet expect to carry over 12 million people in France in 2011, compared to 6 million in 2007. easyJet's third base in France will open in Lyon in April 2008 - making the ailrine the first budget carrier to offer domestic flights outside of Paris. easyJet's decision to open two bases within two months confirms its commitment and the importance of France as one of the key growth areas for the airline. easyJet will launch new routes from Paris to Hamburg, Krakow, Venice, Biarritz, Porto and Marrakesh.
