Qatar Airways launches online checkin service

Saturday 06 Dec 2008 9:50am

Qatar Airways has just launched a new online check-in facility for its customers travelling from Doha. The internet-based check-in service is available to all Qatar Airways passengers, except those travelling to New York and Washington, and can be initiated up to 36 hours prior to departure. The new service will allow customers to select their cabin seat and either print out a boarding pass or have the boarding pass sent to a compatible mobile phone. To speed up check-in further, baggage can be checked at Doha International Airport's fast bag-drop points, while passengers with hand luggage can proceed straight to their designated departure gate after passing through security. The online check-in scheme is just one of a number of initiatives Qatar Airways has introduced to improve its passengers' airport experiences. Qatar Airways' chief executive officer Akbar Al Baker said: 'Over the past 12 months, Qatar Airways has invested in time and resources to develop a new range of online initiatives to provide passengers with an improved travel experience. ' Mr Al Baker added: 'We have now taken our online service to new levels with a check-in facility…giving more control to passengers, allowing them to print their own boarding passes and even have the boarding passes sent to their mobile phones. ' Qatar Airways' flies from a number of UK airports, including Heathrow Airport, Manchester Airport and Glasgow Airport, to Doha.
