Luton airport to get dedicated security lane

Monday 08 Dec 2008 9:57am

Passengers travelling through Luton Airport will soon be offered the option to pay a small fee to use a priority security lane allowing quicker access to security checkpoints. A spokesman announced that the necessary building works to house the dedicated security lane will begin shortly. Marketing director at London Luton airport Natalie Raper said that the airport's investment had already been targeted at reducing waiting times for all passengers, but acknowledged that some travellers are willing to pay for the 'quickest possible progress' through security search points. 'We are therefore introducing the priority lane option and will be making a charge of £3 per passenger for this service; only passengers that choose to use the priority lane will be charged,' Ms Raper added. 'By offering a choice of options we can provide an airport experience to suit the needs of all passengers. ' Luton Airport has seen a number of improvements to its facilities recently, such as the opening of a short-term car park close to the main terminal building. Luton Airport hosts direct flights to a number of European destinations, including Paris, Berlin and Barcelona.
