Dubai and Singapore clean up at World Travel Awards

Dubai and Singapore picked up three awards each at the World Travel Awards final in the Turks and Caicos Islands, held on December 2nd. Dubai was voted the world's leading holiday destination, the best cruise port in the industry and saw the city's Burj Al Arab hotel was voted the leading hotel. Singapore's Changi Airport was named the world's leading air travel hub, the country's national airline, Singapore Airlines, was voted the best air carrier, while the Pan Pacific Singapore hotel received the accolade for the leading business hotel. Other winning airlines included Air Berlin (best budget carrier), Etihad Airways (best first class), Lufthansa (best economy class) and Qatar Airways (best business class). London was named as Europe's leading destination and Italy's Alpenroyal hotel was voted the continent's best ski holiday destination in the regional Europe award category. In the Africa section of the awards, Cape Town was named the continent's best destination, along with Sydney in the Australasia category, New York in the North America category, and Rio de Janeiro in the South America category.
