Wednesday 05 Dec 2007 9:09am

Today was a grand opening ceremony of 1. 7 million square feet of expansion at Miami International Airport's South Terminal. By the end of December 2007, the new terminal will handle over 25% of the 32 million passengers a year that use the airport with most airlines having already to move to the new terminal. The new terminal has several new features within its multi-million square feet of additional space including 28 new gates, 190 new ticket counters, new immigration controls able to handle over 2000 international passengers per year and a new cruise shuttle bus running between the airport and the Port of Miami - which is already expected to have a high demand with the number of cruise ships that sail weekly from the Port of Miami. Miami International Airport provides short and long haul flights to 72 cities in over 28 countries across the world.
