Virgin Atlantic and bmi extend codeshare deal

Tuesday 18 Aug 2009 6:03pm

The codeshare arrangement between Virgin Atlantic and bmi has been extended, meaning that the latter has been able to add nine new destinations to its route network from Heathrow Airport. Bmi can sell direct flights from London Heathrow to a number of destinations in the US, including Chicago, Boston, Miami, San Francisco and Los Angeles under the new agreement. The deal also encompasses Dubai, Nairobi and other destinations in bmi's expanding network of routes to Russia and the Middle East. 'We are delighted to be extending our network through this codeshare deal with Virgin Atlantic, offering our customers an even greater choice of international destinations,' said Katherine Gershon, the airline's sales and marketing director. 'Bmi customers in the north of England, Scotland and Northern Ireland can now book bmi all the way to the USA,' she added. Bmi increased its presence in the Middle East earlier this year, with the launch of a second daily service from London Heathrow to Tel Aviv in Israel.
