Volcanic ash affects all UK airports

Thursday 15 Apr 2010 9:32pm

Most UK airports have grounded all flights into and out of UK airports due to an Icelandic volcano eruption causing volcanic ash and dust to form huge clouds. As of Thursday 15 April 1pm all UK airports are not flying, with the restrictions due to be in place until Friday 16 April 1pm. However, some Northern Irish airports may open earlier, with reports indicating some may open by Friday 1am. Reports indicate that the volcano in Iceland is still erupting and may cause aiport closures for another 48 hours, with major delays possible after airports reopen. As always, it's best to phone ahead and prepare for delays or rebookings if you have travel plans.
