Blackpool Airport is the UKs favourite airport

Friday 10 Apr 2009 12:49pm

Blackpool Airport has topped a new survey by ‘Which? Holiday' to find the UK's favourite airport. The airport received an overall customer satisfaction rating of 80 per cent, just ahead of London City Airport, which received a customer satisfaction score of 78 per cent. Blackpool and City Airport were most notably praised for the efficiency of their check-in and security procedures, and staff attitude. Southampton Airport was another good performer, scoring a rating of 71 per cent that saw it near the top of the list. However, larger airports such as Heathrow Airport and Gatwick Airport proved less popular with both appearing in the bottom six airports in the survey. Editor of ‘Which? Holiday', Lorna Cowan, said: 'It seems clear that Which? members prefer the experience of flying from smaller regional airports to using the larger ones. So it is well worth looking into the routes offered from smaller airports when planning a holiday to short-haul destinations. 'But people still need to use Gatwick and Heathrow for long-haul trips - our results suggest that these large airports need to work much harder to provide a better service for their passengers. ' Blackpool Airport is home to flights operated by airlines including Aer Arann and Flybe and offers connections to short haul destinations such as Dublin, Belfast and Faro.
