New flight upgrades for BA customers from Heathrow

Tuesday 21 Oct 2008 8:39am

British Airways has announced that customers flying from Heathrow Airport are now able to buy upgrades for their flights before boarding any European or long-haul service. Under the new upgrade scheme, one-way passengers on long-haul flights can upgrade to the World Traveller Plus cabin or to the business class Club Europe cabin. BA customers will find the facility to upgrade their flight class if they use the airline's online check in service, and may receive an email inviting them to upgrade before travelling. Customers in the World Traveller Plus cabin will enjoy seats offering more leg-room than World Traveller class, while benefits to customers in the Club Europe cabin include the use of British Airways lounges at Terminal 5. British Airways currently already offers its 'upgrade before you fly' option on flights from Gatwick Airport. BA's commercial director Robert Boyle said: 'This offer is a fabulous way for customers who might want to treat themselves to an upgrade in the last few days before their holiday. 'It has been a hit at Gatwick so we want to offer the same level of luxury from Heathrow. '
