Icelandair launches its new look

Sunday 26 Oct 2008 10:03am

One of the world's oldest operating airlines, Icelandair, has announced the launch of its revamped image, with a new website, new seats, new interiors, and a new third cabin in its aircraft. The updated Icelandair ‘Saga Class' is aimed at business travellers, with renewed efforts to 'provide the finest in service and comfort' while the new look Economy cabin is 'geared towards the needs of families and budget conscious travellers'. The new Economy Plus cabin is designed for business travellers who expect 'more amenities on a fixed budget', with more comfortable seats and legroom than Economy, complimentary drinks and meals, along with Business Class check-in and lounge access privileges. The airline has also implemented a revised fare structure, offering more flexible fares that allow passengers to choose from six different fare categories within the three cabins. From 1st November, an updated and more user friendly website will be launched, with passengers being sent pre-flight emails with their bookings, including information about their flights. Post-travel emails will also be routinely sent to gauge customer experience and satisfaction. An online check-in service will also be available soon. This will enable passengers to avoid the check-in queues and print their boarding cards from their computer. On board upgrades will include ergonomically designed seats with personal in-flight entertainment systems and overall roomier interiors. New designer uniforms will also be worn by all crew members. The new uniforms were designed by Steinunn Sigurdardottir to reflect Icelandic culture. Thorsteinn Egilsson, General Manager of Icelandair - The Americas said: 'Our main goal is to make our passengers become a part of Icelandair and our Icelandic heritage. We want our passengers to feel as unique and special as the country of Iceland, from the minute they purchase their ticket until they return home, wherever home may be. The new Icelandair will enable our passengers to see what truly sets us apart from every other airline and we look forward to welcoming you aboard the new Icelandair. ' Icelandair has been operating flights for over 70 years and currently operates services from Iceland to Boston, New York-JFK, Minneapolis/St. Paul (seasonal), Orlando Sanford, Halifax (seasonal) and Toronto (seasonal). Connections are also available through Icelandair's hub in Reykjavik to more than 20 destinations in the UK, Continental Europe and Scandinavia.
