New US Airways route from the US to Birmingham

American-based airline US Airways has announced that it plans to launch a new series of flights from its base in Philadelphia to Birmingham in 2009. The new flights carrier will operate daily from May 12th to Birmingham Airport, closely followed by a further new service from Philadelphia to the Norwegian capital Oslo, to launch on May 21st. Birmingham airport joins UK gateways like Manchester Airport, Heathrow Airport and Gatwick Airport, to becomes US Airways' fifth UK and Ireland destination. Meanwhile, Oslo will be only the airline's second Scandinavian flight location, after the Swedish capital Stockholm. US Airways' east coast vice president of international operations Suzanne Boda said: 'We're thrilled to expand our presence in the UK with Birmingham and offer our customers their first Norwegian option in Oslo. ' Ms Boda added: 'We appreciate the support of Birmingham and Oslo officials, as well as the continued support and commitment of the Philadelphia City Division of Aviation. ' Customers can book seats on the new services now. US Airways operates some 3,200 flights daily, bound for destinations all over Europe, North America, Latin America and the Caribbean.
