The UK's national airline, British Airways, has announced a new daily service between New York and London. The new route will depart from Terminal 7 at New York JFK International Airport, bound for London's Gatwick Airport. With the new service, BA will operate 62 weekly flights from New York to England's capital. Boeing 777 aircraft will operate on the route, offering customer four classes of travel, ranging from 14 First Class seats to 124 World Traveller places. BA's executive vice president of Americas Simon Smith said: 'The new JFK-Gatwick flight will give our customers even more choice when flying between New York and London. ' Mr Smith added that BA is planning to launch a range of business-only flights between New York JFK and London's City Airport in 2009. BA is also about to begin a leisure travel campaign to encourage customers to actively explore different cultures when they go on holiday. This development is in response to research conducted by Mintel which suggests that a large number of people in the UK are not prepares to sacrifice their holidays despite the UK heading into recession.
