Plans to add second runway at Stansted submitted by BAA

BAA, owner of seven of the UK's biggest airports and operator of Stansted Airport has submitted a planning application to construct a second runway at Stansted Airport. The "London" airport currently serves over 23. 5 million passengers a year with over 30 airlines flying to almost 160 destinations across Europe and the world. Stansted is also the 3rd busiest airport in the UK behind Heathrow and Gatwick. The proposed second runway would allow up to 68 million people a year to the use airport by 2030 - with the new runway being ready in 2015.
