Transatlantic premium airline starts flights

Thursday 19 Jun 2008 3:31pm

With airlines such as EOS Airlines, MaxJet and Silverjet going out of business, the options available for premium or luxury flights across the atlantic between Europe and the USA are limited. British Airways is changing that as today it launched its OpenSkies affiliate airline - a dedicated premium airline initially flying between Paris and New York. The plane is a Boeing 757 aircraft with only 82 leather-clad luxury seats - in a plane that normally holds three times as many passengers. There are no economy seats on the flight. OpenSkies is geared towards providing a luxury service, excellent cuisine, lie-flat beds and other top of the range luxuries on the Paris to New York route. Tickets vary from $1320 to $3800 (US Dollars) for a return flight on the new route. The flight will operate six times a week on the transatlantic route and there are plans for a second aircraft to be added later this year and more in 2009.
