Iceland Express proposes new airport in Reyjavik

Wednesday 04 Jul 2007 8:13pm

Reyjavik city centre airport only allows domestic services and Iceland Express have applied for permission for a new airport close to the city which can be used for both domestic and international flights. Iceland Express broke into the once-dominated Icelandair market resulting in fares tumbling and more tourists visited Iceland as a result. Iceland Express's plan to have this new airport will bring low cost operating to airport operations, allowing Iceland Express to offer a similar service to UK low cost airlines such as easyJet to bmibaby. At present, the number of airlines flying to Iceland is limited and costs are still on the side of expensive.
