BA launches flights to Sharm el Sheikh and the Maldives

Thursday 13 Aug 2009 9:05am

British Airways has announced that it will commence flights to Sharm el Sheikh in Egypt and Male in the Maldives this year. Both will operate on a three-flights-per-week basis from Gatwick Airport from October 25th. British Airways will be returning to the Red Sea with its new Sharm El Sheikh service, while the Male route will be the first time the carrier has flown to the Maldives. The destinations are expected to be 'a real winner with customers,' said Richard Tams, the airline's head of UK and Ireland sales. 'They are both perfect holiday destinations, known for their great beaches and fantastic diving. ' He added. 'We're particularly pleased to be serving a completely new destination, the Maldives, and returning to Sharm El Sheikh. We expect both routes to perform well. ' BA will be launching an array of new flights to a number of long-haul destinations this winter, including Montego Bay in Jamaica and Las Vegas.
