Queue jumping scheme arrives at Luton Airport

Thursday 16 Apr 2009 7:58am

Travellers flying from Luton Airport will now have the option to bypass security check queues. Passengers will have priority access to security checks for a £3 charge, which can be paid online prior to leaving for the airport or at one of several kiosks in the airport terminals. This will reduce their potential waiting time enormously. The queue-jumping scheme has been introduced to evoke an 'executive lounge' atmosphere to travelling through Luton as well as to reduce congestion within terminal buildings, according to airport bosses. London Luton's commercial manager, Simon May, said: 'We have worked hard to reduce waiting times at security for all passengers and improve customer service across the airport. 'However, it is important to offer a choice of services to suit all passengers and we know that some people value being able to guarantee the quickest route to the security search point. ' Similar queue-jumping schemes are already in operation at several UK hubs, including Bristol, Liverpool and Leeds-Bradford airports.
