Lufthansa drops Bristol service

German airline, Lufthansa, is stopping its Frankfurt to Bristol service for this summer. Instead, the aircraft that would normally fly that route will be changed to fly fromHeathrow to Berlin. The airline will also add a London City to Berlin service with a new aircraft, doubling the capacity on the route. An a third daily service will be added to the existing Edinburgh to a German city. Inverness to Dusseldorf will also be a seasonal service operating between june 20th and September 12th. Lufthansa operates flights across Europe and also Worldwide, and Marianne Sammann, UK's General manager for Lufthansa said [Quote] 'Despite the suspension of our service between Bristol and Frankfurt, Lufthansa will still have a presence in the South West following the introduction of the new bilateral code sharing between Lufthansa and Brussels Airlines. 'So, the vast majority of our UK passengers will have more and even better connections to a wide range of destinations. 'At the same time, our portfolio is growing with the new Lufthansa Italia offer from Heathrow. 'Bookings for the new service are growing at a rate of well over 1,000% since January, an excellent take up of our now increased offer of six daily flights from London to Milan. '
