Venturing past the capital, many of the country’s towns have unique qualities of their own. For instance, Ghent is a university town near the capital. Another interesting city in the country is Bruges. This small town dates back to the 14th century. Many people believe this town to be one of the most beautiful in the country. However, because of its beauty, it can sometimes seem touristy because of its popularity. This is a great place to experience a unique atmosphere and some stunning medieval buildings. Antwerp is also a wonderful place to visit, particularly if you are into art. This city has a strong historical link to such great artists as Rubens and Van Gogh. This city also has a reputation as being an important diamond trading city, as well as being internationally renowned for fashion.
