Monday 29 Sep 2008 7:59am

Budget airline bmibaby has announced that it will add new routes from Manchester to Amsterdam and Toulouse in time for its 2009 summer schedule. Under the panned expansion, bmibaby will fly twice a day to Amsterdam and once on Sundays while it will fly to the French city of Toulouse three times a week. Both new services are scheduled to begin operating on March 29 of next year. According to the airline, the two new routes are currently not available through any other no-frills airline from Manchester Airport. The addition of Toulouse and Amsterdam brings bmibaby's total number of destinations from Manchester to 16. bmibaby also announced new routes three times a week from East Midlands Airport to Almeria, and twice weekly from Cardiff to Lisbon commencing on March 29. Nine other European routes have just gone on sale to Malaga, Alicante, Bordeaux, Faro, Murcia, Palma, Nice, Perpignan and Rome Fiumicino. Crawford Rix, managing director, bmibaby, said: 'Despite the challenging market conditions, bmibaby continues to go from strength to strength. We're proud to launch our summer 2009 schedule with even more new routes from the regions. Managing director of bmibaby Crawford Rix said: 'We decided to launch our summer 2009 flying schedule earlier this year, to not only give people something to look forward too, but also to meet consumer demand. Customers have been contacting us asking when they can book next year's flights, this shows that the appetite for travel is still very much alive and kicking in Manchester. ' Managing director of Manchester Airport Andrew Cornish said: 'We are delighted that bmibaby has added two new routes to Toulouse and Amsterdam for summer next year. This is an important airline for Manchester offering passengers both value for money and a high quality service. We expect both routes to be extremely popular with leisure and business passengers. ' 'I strongly believe that the combination of bmibaby's low fares and great service is fuelling the demand for our flights, and as result we will continue to offer new destinations. We not only offer benefits such as allocated seating for everyone, thus saving the chaotic scramble for seats, but customers can also join bmi diamond club, the UK's most generous frequent flier programme. ' 'We will shortly be launching stage two of our summer 2009 flying programme so advise people to visit www. bmibaby. com and book early to secure a great deal. bmibaby is here to stay and we have long term growth plans for the regions.
