East Midlands Airport wins two travel awards

East Midlands Airport is celebrating winning two prestigious travel industry awards in only a few days. The first accolade was for 'airport of the year' at the Travel Trade Gazette Awards, which East Midlands airport won ahead of stiff competition from Luton Airport and Birmingham Airport. East Midlands airport was also named the 'star regional airport' at the Travel Bulletin Star Awards at the ceremony in London, an award Liverpool Airport, Bristol Airport and Birmingham Airport were also nominated for. East Midlands airport's managing director Penny Coates said: 'We are delighted to have won two prestigious and highly acclaimed awards in less than a week and see this as a reflection of our hard work and dedication. 'These awards show the confidence, trust and respect our colleagues in the travel industry have for the airport and we are delighted that this has been recognised in a very competitive marketplace. ' Major airlines including bmi and Eastern Airways operate from East Midlands Airport, and serve destinations such as Cologne, Paris and Rome.
