Virgin Atlantic is promoting online checkin

Thursday 10 Jul 2008 6:33am

Online check-in saves airlines money as they don't have to have as many staff manning the check-in desks. Many of the budget airlines such as Ryanair actually charge you to check-in, although online-checkin is free. Virgin Atlantic have launched a promotion is try and encourage more people to check-in online for flights from UK airports. As an incentive, passengers flying from Manchester, Heathrow or Gatwick will get vouchers and discounts that can be used at the shops in the terminals. The promote covers flights in July and August inclusive. Online check-in, for those who have never used it, is much quicker and as a result, less stressful than checking-in at the airport. With no queues to contend with, you can quickly sort your luggage out and then proceed to security. Virgin estimate that about 25% of their passengers use the online check-in, and with the new promotion, this percentage will increase over the coming months. Virgin Atlantic flies to destinations across the atlantic from its UK airports, but also flies to Singapore, Australia and Dubai.
