Wednesday 01 Apr 2009 9:01am

The Ski Club of Great Britain has reported that travellers planning late-season skiing holidays this year will benefit from the best snow conditions in 25 years. The club added that there is 'still plenty of time to fit in a ski holiday before the end of the season'. Resorts including Les Arcs and Avoriaz in France, Davos and Zermatt in Switzerland and Bormio in Italy will be open until April 26th. A number of Europe's major skiing destinations, including Ischgl and Obergurgl in Austria and Val d'Isere and Val Thorens in France, will close on May 3rd this year. Information manager at the Ski Club of Great Britain, Al Morgan, said: 'This is definitely the year to make the most of the excellent snow conditions. 'Skiing in March and April offers long days for skiing, sunny terraces for leisurely lunches and less people than the busy periods. Get out there if you can!' According to the Ski Club, there are a many ways for winter sports travellers to stick to a tight budget during a late skiing holiday, including pre-booking skiing equipment online and choosing to cook at self-catering accommodation, rather than eating out at expensive resort restaurants.
