Swiss plans flights improvements from Manchester

The European airline Swiss has announced plans to improve its flight operations from Manchester Airport to the Swiss city of Zurich.

Swiss announced that it will continue to operate its three times a day service but replace the current Fokker aircraft with an Airbus A319 from October 26th.

With 124 seats, the Airbus A319 will provide a 24 per cent capacity increase. The new aircraft will also provide greater seat pitch and seat width for all its passengers.

Swiss' country manager for the UK and Ireland Gregor Koncilja said that the decision to boost the service was made to remedy "continuously increasing seat load factors".

Mr Koncilja added: "We have found the route ever more popular with business and leisure travellers alike and Swiss is looking forward to flying an ever-increasing number of passengers from the Manchester area to Zurich and onwards to our network of 76 destinations worldwide.

"Swiss is really pleased to be offering our customers in north-west England and northern Wales the added comfort and increased seat width of the A319s and are delighted at this concrete indicator of our growing market share out of Manchester."
