Vueling chairwoman to increase ticket prices

New Vueling chairwoman Barbara Cassani is set to increase ticket prices, attract more business passengers to the airline - all with a view to getting the airline back to being profitable.

With the Spanish low cost and budget airline market becoming saturated, both Ryanair and easyJet hold almost 40% of the market between them.

In the last 12 months, Vueling has lost 60% of their market share, Ryanair 20% - where Air Berlin and easyJet increasing their market share by 17% and over 40% respectively.

Spanish based Clickair are the also increasing their market share - a move that new the Vueling boss is keen to stop.

With Vueling income from ticket and sundry sales sometimes not covering the operating costs for the planes, Barbara Cassani has her work cut out - with Ryanair and easyJet announcing new routes both domestic and international within Spain.
