easyJet to acquire GB Airways Ltd and increase its fleet

GB Airways are based at Gatwick airport and primarily operates flights to southern Europe and North Africa under a franchise agreement with British Airways.

easyJet have announced they intend to acquire GB Airways Ltd for £103.5 million GBP in cash.

GB Airways are not widely known in the UK, but operate 15 Airbus aircraft and serving 39 destinations with 28 from Gatwick, 6 from Manchester and 5 from Heathrow.

easyJet operate a fleet of 107 aircraft - all Airbus planes and the GB Airways acquisition will will in well with easyJet's current operations.

The purchase will help strengthen easyJet's offering at Gatwick to customers - as well as providing easyJet with valuable take-off and landing slots at the airport.

easyJet will operate over 24% of Gatwick's slots and its estimated that over 8 million passengers will from from Gatwick to the 62 destinations it operates.
