Iceland is ideal for short breaks

Holidaymakers have been urged to try a short break in Iceland and squeeze in as many activities as possible into their short stay.

One of the best ways for tourists to experience Iceland's diversity is to stay in Reykjavik and take day trips to the nearby natural attractions, according to Visit Reykjavik.

Iceland's famous natural phenomena are a key attraction for tourists, with locations such as the Golden Circle tour of spas and the Blue Lagoon geothermal spa, hot springs and waterfalls.

The country’s capital, Reykjavik, is commonly used by tourists as a base because it offers a smorgasbord of modern attractions and culture.

Visit Reykjavik’s assistant project manager Maria Reynisdottir said: "Because of short distances you can really pack a lot into even a short break here - stay in Reykjavik for culture and nightlife and go on day tours to the Blue Lagoon and Golden Circle."

Ms Reynisdottir also highlighted that, following a drop in the value of Iceland’s currency, products and services in Iceland have recently become much cheaper for foreign travellers.
