New Flybe flights between London and Dusseldorf

Friday 8 May 2009 6:23 AM

Regional airline Flybe has announced that it will launch new flights to the German city of Dusseldorf this summer.

The Dusseldorf service will begin operating from June 22nd. There will be three flights per weekday, one every Saturday and two every Sunday.

Flybe has expanded its operations from London Gatwick significantly in the past 18 months. This has included new domestic flights to Aberdeen, Newcastle and Newquay.

The airline is the third-largest slot holder at Gatwick, operating nearly 500 flights per week in the summer season.

Mike Rutter, Flybe’s chief commercial officer, said: "The initial basing of one aircraft with 33 new staff will make Gatwick one of our most important airports and our 14th base.

"Flybe is gaining a reputation as an airline that bucks the trend in these challenging economic times and this announcement is a confident statement by the Flybe board in our ability to continue our growth."
