Heathrow celebrates power poles

Friday 1 May 2009 8:22 AM

Heathrow Airport has just announced the completion of the installation of 47 power poles for passengers to charge their gadgets at a cost of £300,000.

The power poles are currently available in Terminals 1 and 3 and are capable of charging eight pieces of equipment each. This will allow passengers to use their laptops without diminishing their battery.

Previous investments such as Wi-Fi are expected to become more cost-effective because the power poles will encourage passengers to make use of the services.

Juan Perez from BAA commented: "The simplest of ideas are often the best ideas and we are confident that the Power Poles will provide an effective cost-free solution to a genuine problem, which will ultimately make our passengers' airport experience more enjoyable."
