Flybe to expands flights to Guernsey

Flybe has revealed that it will expand its schedule of flights from London Gatwick Airport to Guernsey this summer.

The airline will operate an additional weekday service to meet higher seasonal demand from 29 June, giving travellers a choice of six return flights every day.

A Flybe spokesperson claimed that the additional Guernsey service will allow it to serve this "key route" with its current small aircraft while it waits for the government of Guernsey to upgrade the island's airport. Once the airport has been upgraded, it will be able to host larger 118-seat Embraer 195 jet aircraft.

Mike Rutter, Flybe’s chief commercial officer, said: "Historically, airline after airline have abandoned their services to the Channel Islands, but Flybe's bucking that trend with this additional rotation.

"We remain committed to providing affordability and flexibility for Channel Islands travellers and, with six rotations now on this popular route, offer the perfect choice for leisure and business travellers alike."

In other news, Flybe announced that it would be "rescuing" Leeds-Bradford Airport with its connection service to London Gatwick over the summer.
