Emirates launches new flights to Indonesia and Malaysia

Tuesday 26 May 2009 6:58 AM

Travellers planning to visit Asia this year will be able to take advantage of new connections being operated by Dubai-based airline, Emirates.

From 1 May, Emirates will offer two daily flights to Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia and an additional three weekly services to Jakarta in Indonesia from its base in Dubai.

The airline claimed that the new connections will provide a better service between the Middle East and the Far East, two regions that are recording "healthy growth rates" despite the problems in the global economy.

Richard Vaughan, an Emirates spokesman, said: "Despite the current economic environment, the Middle East and Far East regions continue to register growth in their travel and tourism industries.

"In the Far East, these industries are expected to post average annual gains of 6.3 per cent over the coming ten years."

UK customers can connect to destinations in the Far East and Australasia, including Hong Kong, Sydney and Singapore, via Emirates' base in Dubai.
