Thursday 1 May 2008 10:44 PM
The business-class only airline Silverjet which is based at Luton has received a cash investment from a Middle-East investor. The investment is for £12.7 million (approx $25 million US dollars) with an additional £37 million to come in the future to help the airline move into new markets in the Middle East and Asia. Silverjet currently operates three flights a day on their business-class only service from London to New York (twice a day) and London to Dubai (once per day). As well as being a business-class only airline, passengers can enjoy the luxury of being able to check-in and use a private terminal at both London Luton and Dubai airports. The private terminals provide a late 30-minute check-in, dedicated security and the award winning Silverlounge - which also has showers to allow passengers to freshen up either at the start, or end of their journey. Whilst on board, Silverjet passengers has access to 6ft completely flat beds and the highly aclaimed gormet food menu. Silverjet's March passenger figures were the best yet with an ever increasing number of passengers using the airline - even in what is traditionally one of the more quiet times of year. Earlier this week, EOS Airlines, the american business-class airline filed for bankruptcy citing competition and rising fuel costs as a contributing factor to its dire financial state.
